Work experience
Suomen Vartijat Oy Security guard
03.11.2016 – 25.08.2017
In this position I worked as a part time mobile patrol guard. My responsibility is to drive residential areas, check insides of apartment houses, and report any issues encountered. If there is a need for immediate help or repair, I would call an emergency number or maintenance company. Work also included writing fines to any wrong parked cars, key service and responding calls.
This work takes endurance to work alone in a long 12h night shifts, and good physical fitness while there can be 15-20km of walk each night on stairways and corridors. Work requires fast independent decisions on things like if I need to call police, ambulance or maintenance. Answering on sometimes difficult customer calls needs a good sense of customer service.
Some neighborhoods have their reputation, and this work has taught me more of taking every person as a fellow human being, regardless of a background.

If those products have not been already ordered from automatic storage system, I will order them using company database. Then I load products into truck trailers considering weight distribution for safe driving. Sometimes products are so heavy, that I call crane diver to lift rolls into a trailer.
I also worked in a dispatch office, making orders from automatic storage, and handing out dispatch notes and loading instructions for drivers.
Dispatch facility was quite busy environment usually three to four forklifts operating same time loading trucks and shipping containers. I had to calculate fast distribution of steel and load it into truck. Challenge was also a multinational truck drivers, who often could not communicate in english or finnish.
I learnt there teamwork and working in a very hasty environment. Also customer service was a big part of my work while communicating with drivers. I learnt how to handle big 14t forklifts, and how to make loads in 1-2 cm precision. Additionally I deepened my knowledge on steel production.
