Mount rack for a watertight phonebag: Catia

This project was part of a course Computer Aided Design. I have a watertight bag for a phone. Problem was that it was difficult to hold it straight, while shooting videos on a phone. I used this opportunity to design and actually fabricate one as a part of a course project. Project was completed in group of two persons.

Requisites for this product included: easy mount on a tripod or belts or other piece of clothing, and provide of protection on a phone inside a bag.

Watertight bag for a phone

We decided to use closing mechanism of a bag also to be part of a closing mechanism of a mount or rack. Other parts of a design would be place for a tripod UNC ¼-20 nut and a belt clip. A great challenge appeared to be stiffness of 3D print plastic. To keep structure as simple as possible, part of it must bend to let those rods of a closing mechanism to slide into locking position of a rack. We also run a structural analyze tool of Catia to study the strain of a structure while bend.
